In the Beginning:
Dr. Tim P. Faulk began his career in Public Safety in the early 1970’s as a volunteer firefighter, police dispatcher, and auxiliary Police officer with the South Flomaton Fire and Police Departments. He continued his training, completing Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training. He passed the EMT state examinations in both Florida, and Alabama. He worked with Gandy Ambulance Service, Century, Florida, and was one of the first hired with Santa Rosa County Emergency Medical Services, Milton, Florida.
Dr. Faulk also became certified as an instructor in both Emergency First Aid (American Red Cross) and CPR (American Heart Association) teaching for several years in Northwest Florida. Dr. Faulk then completed the Paramedic training program at Pensacola Junior College in March 1977. Following this training, he passed the state examination and began working with Escambia County Emergency Medical Services. He also successfully passed the first Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS, American Heart Association) taught in Northwest Florida. Dr. Faulk completed the first Associate of Science degree in Paramedics from Pensacola Junior College and he received a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts with a major in Criminology from Saint Leo College.
The Growing Years:
Dr. Faulk furthered his education by completing both the Doctor of Ministry (DMin) in Counseling and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Counseling. Dr. Faulk is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Approved Supervisor in Alabama. He has completed additional training to qualify him as a Certified Trauma Specialist (CTS), and he is a Diplomate and Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress through the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. Dr. Faulk is an approved Instructor for both the Assisting Individuals in Crisis and Group Crisis Intervention programs, International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF).
Where we're going:
Dr. Faulk was selected to attend the Affiliate Faculty training program at the Resiliency Science Institute, International, LLC at The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Training Centers (An Honors University in Maryland). He completed this training and was given the title of Affiliate Instructor. This was a joint training program developed in conjunction with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Faulk provides critical incident training for the Headland Police Department, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Dale County 911, and the Dothan Fire Department. He has presented at several conferences to include the Special Operations Medical Association (SOMA) Conference, Tampa, Florida, The Surviving Trauma Conference, Pensacola, Florida, and several Alabama Department of Education conferences. One of his professional goals is to provide training to first responders focused on decreasing the incidents of PTSD, and decreasing the suicide rate.
Dr. Faulk is in private practice in Dothan, Alabama and is the Clinical Director, Headland Police Department and the Wiregrass Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team. He also serves as the Critical Incident Coordinator, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Dothan, Alabama. In these positions, he has supervised and participated in several high profile Critical incidents.
